I’ve aged this monster for at least four years, and though these are great right out of the box, the more age has done wonders.
With near splendid const. and a dark, smooth wrapper, this behemoth took practically two hours to finish. It is still a med. strength smoke with wonderful coffee and semi–sweet chocolate flavours. I am in addition picking up some leather and earth, along with some salt. Towards the end of the cigar it does pick up some strength to a med.– full profile. A couple of purges brought it back a notch. This is a outstanding cigar that ages gracefully and is worth every penney.

I reviewed an HDM Excalibur earlier this year and thought this regular line may in the future be too powerful.
I was wrong! This beautiful dark monster cut easily, had a good draw, and burnt very evenly. Enormous amount of smoke with an impressive salt and pepper ash that stayed attached, what seemed like forever. The woodsy notes with a strong kick tasted great with an =ly strong home–brewed Octoberfest beer. I will have to look at getting more of the HDM regular line and tucking them away for long quarter storage. This smoke was a little rough around the edges, though not often harsh. It would probably do well with some ageing.

    26 days in humidor.
A hulk of a cigar. Need practically a couple of hours to polish this 1 off. Shows off a toothy, veiny, bumpy and rustic dark brown wrapper. A touch lighter than did most maduros. Has a solid, dense feel. Cuts and lights easily maintaing a strong, smokey burn through out the smoke. Quite s few touch–ups needed due to an uneven burn which became a bit labourious. Draw was fairly easy. For a maduro this was a medium bodied smoke at the most. Flavor profile was quite smooth and light with notes of cocoa, leather, vanilla along with a hint of cedar. This was a solid, well done cigar, but quite mild if you are expecting a typical full flavoured maduro smoke.

    Very eerie experience.
Out of the wrapper the cigar was beautiful. Nice dark wrapper and great aroma. I lighted the thing and the first two centimeter I could not get smoke or taste‚ despite a smooth draw. Had to relight three times. All of a sudden it got excellent. Tons of smoke and nice spicy taste.for concerning five minutes‚ next it went back to bland and smokeless. I will be willing to try another and let it sit six months or so. I’ve had a lot of HdM’s and this was a unique occurence. I hope it was just bad luck.
